What Is Leadership, Really?

There's leadership and then there's leadership positions.  In education and other mission-critical sectors of this country, we keep making the same huge mistake, which later perpetuates mismanagement and failure: placing immature, untrained, unpracticed people in leadership positions—oftentimes our friends and/or family members (conflicts of interest, any way you look at it)—and we purposely overlook leaders, with obvious track records of success, greatness and change.

Leaders are driven and propelled by consistency—do it again and again until it works, urgency—this must happen, now; we cannot wait; and purposefulness—love, sacrificial determination, and the willingness to do whatever it takes (CUP).

Leaders embrace change and challenges, and, by principle, believe that moral honesty is key to building and sustaining relationships.
